December 2014 Open House Celebration In San Jose

AnewAmerica Community Corporation will celebrate its new San Jose offices by holding an open house on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 210 N. 4th Street, Suite 205, San Jose, CA. The new offices will serve as a space in which AnewAmerica will continue to provide low-income entrepreneurs in the South Bay with microenterprise development and financial literacy assistance to help them grow their businesses. The event's purpose will be for AnewAmerica to share its work with the local community, finding common ground from which to build strong partnerships.

At AnewAmerica's Open House, its current South Bay clients will meet with community leaders and partner organizations. Carmenza Rengifo of Arepas La Calenita and Mireya Baez of Milohas Pastries, both immigrant entrepreneurs enrolled in AnewAmerica's program, will cater the event. Clients will showcase their businesses in an exposition of goods and services. Other clients participating include Betty Bedregal of Betty's Butterflies Daycare and Anayantzi Alvarado of Green Refund Tax Services.

The event will feature a short program. Guests will have the opportunity to tour AnewAmerica's new San Jose offices, meet clients, and view its Comcast-sponsored computer lab. AnewAmerica will use this space to provide workshops, seminars and programs to its clients, building on its seven years of providing trainings and technical assistance to low-income entrepreneurs in the San Jose area.

2014 Microbusiness Exposition A Resounding Success!

Thanks to everyone who supported AnewAmerica's 14th Annual Microbusiness Exposition! Our Expo was held on August 14th, 2014 at the beautiful Kaiser Center Rooftop Garden in Downtown Oakland.

We take pride in having the support of outstanding community leaders such as City of Oakland Councilmember Noel Gallo, Small Business Administration District Director Mark Quinn, and Ignacio de la Fuente. We had a fantastic emcee in Fabiola Kramsky-Gascón of Univision, KDTV Channel 14 anchor for the morning show.

We deeply appreciate the support of our event sponsors, who made it possible to celebrate our entrepreneurs and our programs on this special evening.

Our client vendors provided amazing food and showcased their unique products and services. We presented the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award to Gloria Ramirez of Gloria's V Tailoring and the Green Business of the Year Award to Patricia Romero and Jaime Camacho of My Little Bunnies Daycare.

Special thanks go to the nearly 70 businesses that generously provided such a great array of gifts for our drawings, live and silent auctions. Our musicians' talent played an invaluable role in making the evening enjoyable.

We thank 36 Volunteers who greeted our guests, hosted tables and helped sell tickets for our drawings! We could not accomplish the work of this agency without their generosity. For this reason, each year we acknowledge their contributions with our Annual Volunteer of the Year Awards. This year's awards went to Fabianne Rico, college student at San José State University, for his work in our San José office and to Rosario Sanchez, MetWest High School student, for her contribution to our Oakland office.
